AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT - RETURNING SOON Posted in: WIN Television By WIN Television Mar 31, 2008 - 7:43:05 AM
Dannii Minogue, Red Symons and Tom Burlinson will return to the judges' desk when the bigger and better new season of AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT begins soon on WIN Television.
Launched at the start of 2007, AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT quickly became Australia's favourite variety hit.
Grant Denyer will again host the nationwide talent search – anyone with any talent can enter - with acts lining up for a chance of the taking out prize money of $250,000 and says:
‘I can't wait to see this years discovery line up to face the warmth of Dannii, the experience of Tom and the sharp tongue of one very tough Red Symons all for an amazingly lucrative prize pool. If a bloke who blows a gum leaf to John Lennon can make it to last year's Grand Final then everybody's got a chance and that's what I love about the show!'
This year, the three judges will decide who's got talent – and who hasn't - in front of a massive live theatre audience – before the semi-finals begin and Australia helps decide who has enough talent to win the coveted competition.
Last year, Melbourne child singing sensation Bonnie Anderson impressed the judges and the viewers with her knock-out vocal performance, and took home the top prize.
This year, the lure of fame and fortune has more acts lining up to audition - more diverse than the last series – ranging from some amazing, and not so amazing, vocal performances and musicians of all age groups; to dance troupes of varying capabilities; fire breathers; a wood chopper; cheerleaders; contortionists…there is something for everyone in the new series.
There's even a Kylie impersonator – will Dannii think she's good enough to go through to the next round?
Dannii – who just returned from the UK where she was a judge on the hugely successful series The X Factor, sitting alongside Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne, is excited about the new series of AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT:
‘There is no way I could have believed that this show could get any crazier,' said Dannii.
‘The talent is world class and the diversity is unlike any other show on Australian TV. Make no mistake, the competition will be fierce! ‘
AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT returns soon to WIN Television.

The corniest of Seven's trio of talent shows - which also includes Dancing With the Stars and It Takes Two - Australia's Got Talent is also the most egalitarian of the bunch, and the one that takes the concept of variety to heart.
Where else on TV are you likely to see a bright-eyed eight-year-old playing the piano-accordion, a luminous 15-year-old opera singer, a man called Imran doing a peathingy dance, a hapless mime, a performing poodle and a guy called Leroy playing with fire?
And that's just a few of the acts on display in this first show of the second series. With one season under their belts, the judges have settled more comfortably into their routines.
"Hanging judge" Red Symons, the designated nasty one, will even growl at prepubescent ballroom dancers. Sparkly Dannii Minogue, fast becoming a professional TV judge, apparently has the skills to assess showbiz talent but is also girly enough to get flushed over the body of a buff woodchopper. Smooth Tom Burlinson plays the thoughtful industry assessor who'll advise a sharp dance troupe to change their costumes to outfits that better show off their moves.
Meanwhile, host Grant Denyer does his customarily chirpy thing, mostly from the sidelines. At the opening of the new competition, Denyer declares that "the most unpredictable talent show this country has ever seen is back".
Can't quibble with that, but how much of your life you're prepared to devote to watching bad ABBA impersonators, mediocre Kylie impersonators, a credible John Farnham emulator and an Adelaide barbershop quartet in vests made by their mums is up to you.

If we must have reality TV talent shows then may they be without Celine Dion wannabes warbling overdramatically. That sort of talent is rife onscreen but there are many others, some featured in this strangely entertaining program.
Dannii Minogue reveals her wit, Red Symons trots out his hoary collection of insensitive remarks and Tom Burlinson appears too nice to believe. The acts, which include effervescent cheerleaders, angry wrestlers, a cracking indigenous dance group and a short man with a warbling voice and a dazed demeanour, are entertaining, good or very, very bad.

Karina, Let's face it, Tom is too nice to believe! He's a winner all the way around! Wish I could watch the show more. Oh, just a note, I may be coming to Australia by myself, Jim is ill and I don't know if he'll be recovered enough by the time we were planning to come. He's had a couple of surgeries on the veins in his legs and has had some problems with his asthma. I am now planning my trip for October, a whole month, so I'll have plenty of time for visiting. As soon as I have firm dates and places, I'll let you know. Hey, I just might catch a couple of the "Australia's Got Talent" shows while I'm there! More later! Gotta finish up with these two files and then brave the heat going home!

The MacLeay Argus
Viewer outrage as Joe voted out 6/06/2008 2:18:00 PM IT seems judge Tom Burlinson was not the only one infuriated over the decision not to send Temagog’s Joe Robinson through to the Australia’s Got Talent grand final on Tuesday night.
Fans bombarded the TV show’s website after sthingy playing grandmother Deb ‘Sthingys’ Perry was voted through ahead of the 17-year-old guitar sensation.
Burlinson fell out with fellow judges Dannii Minogue and Red Symons after the pair opted to send Perry through to the final ahead of Robinson because they felt the sthingy-playing grandmother’s act carried greater entertainment value.
Supporters of Robinson were quick to vent their anger at the verdict, slamming Minogue and Symons for the decision.
“The band was entertaining, not the sthingy slapper, but I thought this was a talent show. Smokin Joe gets my vote,” one fan wrote.
“What is wrong with Red and Dannii? Smoking Joe was way better than that sthingy tapper,” another fan wrote.
“I could not believe that those two did not vote for a young guy who taught himself how to play the guitar. Could it be because he played better than Red ever did?”
Joe’s future on the show now depends on the viewers.
To vote for Joe and keep him the show call 1902 553 331 or SMS ‘JOE’ to 1997 7772. Be sure to get in quick as the lines close at noon today.
q Catch Joe live at the Smithtown Riverview Hotel this Saturday from 8pm. On Sunday he will be performing at the Willawarrin Hotel from 1pm to 5pm before heading to Macksville to open the Mental As Anything concert at the Ex-Services Club.

Australia's Got Talent coming back in 2010 on Seven

Hosting gig ... Dannii Minogue. Source: AAP
AUSTRALIAN IDOL may be "resting" but the axe has not fallen on its Channel 7 counterpart Australia's Got Talent, with the network currently auditioning.
Judge Dannii Minogue will be back for the March series - but where those pregnancy rumours fit in, we don't know.
A pregnant judge would be something new.
Fellow judges Red Symons and Tom Burlinson are expected back, too, and Grant Denyer will again be host.
If you've got skill, you need to fit Seven's casting bill: "If you're the best, the worst, the youngest, the oldest, the funniest or the only person who does what you do, we want to hear from you!"

Seven chases Kyle Sandiland's talent
* By Richard Clune * From: The Sunday Telegraph * January 17, 2010 12:12AM
CHANNEL Seven may wish to re-stock the Coke machine and scatter around a few ashtrays as Kyle Sandilands looks set to join Australia's Got Talent.
While reiterating nothing was confirmed, a well-placed source said Seven had approached the dumped Australian Idol panelist and was "extremely" keen on gaining his services.
"In a year without Idol [Seven's] eager to make AGT the destination singing/talent show and secure a stronger following among a younger audience. Regardless of what you think of Kyle, he does just that.
"He's immensely popular and his presence alongside Dannii Minogue, for one, progresses AGT considerably. It could make the show what it is in Britain, where it's one of the most popular shows on the box - it's real destination TV over there," the source said.
A Seven spokesperson refused to deny or confirm the alleged move. Although they would not be drawn on how Sandilands would fit into the judging panel, surely his presence signals the end to either Red Symons (Hey Hey?) or Tom Burlinson. My money's on the latter.
In LA for tomorrow's Golden Globes, Sandilands was not available for comment.
His manager, Andrew Hawkins, confirmed Sandilands would return to television "this year" but would not comment on the specifics.
"We've been talking to a number of networks. He'll be back on TV soon with an announcement due in the next three to four weeks," Hawkins said.

Idol in limbo but Kyle's on comback trail Article from: The Advertiser

KYLE Sandilands is in discussions to return to television as a judge on Australia's Got Talent.
Channel 7 is believed to be keen to sign Sandilands in a new push for the program, which received a lift during the week with the announcement of judge Dannii Minogue's pregnancy.
While he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet, it is believed a deal may be close.
Minogue is likely to return to Australia with boyfriend Kris Smith in March and have her baby in Melbourne.
Smith has never shied away about how much he loves and enjoys his adopted city.
Seven yesterday offered ``no comment'' on the Sandilands rumours.
But his manager, Andrew Hawkins, said that Sandilands ``will be back'' on television this year.
``We are looking at a number of things at the moment, which definitely includes new television projects,'' he said.
``Kyle will be back it's just a case of where.'' It is thought the teaming of Sandilands, Minogue and perhaps Red Symons, who is still in negotiations, would give the show a dream line-up in the wake of Susan Boyle's major success in the UK.
Boyle first appeared on Britain's Got Talent last April. That performance was YouTube's most-viewed clip of 2009 and she was the biggest selling artist of the year.
The clip has been viewed more than 85,000,000 times online and the Scottish singer has become one of the biggest musical acts in the world.
Last year, Sandilands was dumped from aifAustralian Idolaif after a 14-year-old revealed on his Sydney radio show that she had been raped.
Jay Dee Springbett replaced him on Australian Idol, which struggled with ratings, and many claim it was because of Sandilands' demise.
Now, the teaming of Minogue and Sandilands could result in ratings gold for Seven.
If Sandilands signs, current AGT judge Tom Burlinson most probably will be axed.
Meanwhile, Minogue and Smith have been in Dubai this week, as the singer has a connection with the country thought her ambassador deal with Etihad Airlines.
When she returns to judge the show, AGT producers will be desperately hoping to find an Aussie version of Boyle.
Adelaide auditions will be held at the Wayville Showgrounds on Thursday, February 11, from 11am.
