Hi Well I never Paraburdoo! We were living in Newman from 1973 to 1985 went into Paraburdoo a number of times, I miss the Pilbara region very much, we will get back there one day, its something my husband wants to do as he worked for Mt Newman Mining the years we were there, he wants us to drive from Perth up to Newman as we did all those years ago, I bet it will feel a lot longer now, so yes we will have that cuppa and cake. Karina I got my Melba Mini Series from chaos.com at info@chaos.com and the Piece of Cake from Movie Mars at www.MovieMars.com Pleased to know that Tom is proud of his performance, its one of his best. Most enjoyable movie. Bye for now. Oh wow - we actually overlapped up in the Pilbara for a while there !! We ran the drive-in at Para. Maybe you drove over to watch a film there occassionally ? Dad worked in Hamersley Iron as a technician and mum taught craft at the school. Yes that drive from there to Perth (every school holidays) was a memorable one - the old Nanutarra Roadhouse is still going strong!! As were the cyclones. You would have been up there for the big one Cyclone Joan in 75 or 76. So many interesting memories. I have never been up there again since we left but a couple of years ago mum did an inland drive up the Canning Stock Route and went back to see Para and the Wittenoom Gorges. Thanks for the links - I have used Chaos before but had never heard of moviemars so I will go and have a wander around there now.

HI KARINA AND ALL,
ITS A LONG WEEK-END HERE IN NZ (LABOUR DAY) TO-DAY AND THE WEATHER IS NOT THE BEST RIGHT NOW,SO WHAT BETTER WAY TO SPEND A COUPLES OF HOURS THAN WATCH A MOVIE. A COUPLE OF DAYS BACK MY COPY OF LANDSLIDE WHICH I HAND BEEN WAITING FOR SOME 8 WEEKS TO ARRIVE CAME SO I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THAT. I WOULD NOT SAY THAT TOMS CHARACTER (HOWARD) IS WHAT MOST OF US WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM PLAY,BUT THE STORY LINE IS SUSPENSEFUL WITH SOME TWISTS AND TURNS. YOU COULD NOT SAY THAT TOM IN THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN TYPCAST, (NOT A HORSE IN SIGHT)
I AM STILL WAITING ON THE WAY TO DUST DEATH WHICH I GOT OFF EBAY TO ARRIVE,MIGHT TAKE A WHILE,AS ITS COMING ICELAND OF ALL PLACES . ITSPOSSBLE THAT ITMAY NOT WORK IN MY DVD SO I AM HOPING THE PC WILL. IF NOT I THINK HAVE DONE WELL TO OBTAIN ALL THE WORK OF TOMS THAT I HAVE SO VERY MUCH WANTED FOR QUITE SOME TIME,AND WITH ON LINE SHOPPING ITS GREAT THE ONLY ONE I HAVE NO DESIRE FOR IS FLESH AND BLOOD NOT A MOVIE I LIKE AT ALL, (even with Tom in it) TOMS MOVIES ARE MANY IN NUMBER ONLINE NOW SO YOU SHOULD FIND SOMETHING TO YOU LIKING BYE FOR NOW MARYANNE

Thanks for the review Maryanne !!
As I mentioned to you somewhere else - I have never seen Landslide because when I bought it on ebay years ago I failed to notice I was bidding on a laser disc !!!!!!!!!!!!! I only ever knew one person who owned a laser disc player and that was in 1988 !!!!
I know Dusty Death is the one that Tom considers his worst film !!
I have always personally liked something that Kris Kristofferson said many years ago when asked to sum up his movie career. He said "Well son - I do one for the glory, followed by ten for the money". Which he figured excused him for all those really bad Steven Segal film appearances !!!!
Actors have to work - at the end of the day they have to earn a living. So I have learned to not expect every single film my favourite actors do to be a "brilliant work of art".
I Have watched Flesh and Blood many times. I do find it very very gory but I like both Tom and Rutger and of course Jack Thompson - so I watch it for their performances.
I cant remember if you have discussed your opinion of Time Guardian ??
As far as an 80s sci fi film - at a time when no one in Aus knew how to make a sci fi film - I think it did pretty good. The story line flows well and made far more sense to me when I rewatched it on DVD than it did when I first saw it at the drive in back in the 80s. Some of it is a bit wooden but given that they had so many changes of writers and directors I can understand if the actors didnt know exactly what was meant to be portrayed and why. I love how truly outback it looks. It was filmed out where they did Mad Max and many other films so you cant get a more true Aussie desert scene !!

Hi Guys, I have now watched "Time guardian" about a dozen times or more and each time I enjoy it. Tom himself said i an interview once that he knows the movie could have been better. Being a true diehard SCI FI fan for many, many, many years, I agree with his assessment. Understanding what the actors were going through with all the changes, it still turned out to be a "good" movie but it could have been better. If Carrie Fisher or Dean Stockwell had used some of their muscle (I mean Dean Stockwell has been in the film industry longer than anyone in that movie, he started making movies when he was 6, his brother Guy has been around for more than 40 years in the industry) and fought with the producers or who ever the powers that be were, I know they could have gotten a much better product than what turned out. I love the movie, good or bad, the scenery is outstanding, special effects could have been better but for the budget they had, it works. Tom does an exceptional job with the poor material that was given him and that just shows his truth of character and devotion to his chosen profession. I think you all will agree with me on that!!

Maryanne, For the record, my son Steven, who is in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, spent a 2 week vacation in New Zealand and Australia in the early 1990's and absolutwly loved everything about both countries. He is hoping to take his family on a vacation there before he retires from the Army. That's one of the reasons I want to come on vacation, I saw all his pictures and videos and just about died with envy. That and I fell in love with the Snowy River movies. I live in the desert and it doesn't impress me to want to go to the outback. but the mountains and high country scenery fits the bill. Stay happy!

Hi to you all. Well my collection is now complete, with my copy of The Way ToDusty Death coming from Iceland last week, watched it a few times, and I think that you said Karina, that Tom considers this to be his worst film at some time, well I think its quite a good movie, even my husband watched and said that was a good nights entertainment. (he always likes anything related with cars and race tracks) there are some very fine actors in it, and Tom's character Ike Jethou is very credible, so on the whole I liked it. ( I am looking to one day sit down and watch Tom's movies in the order he made them with-out anyone disturbing me) oh well, you can only wish. Bye for now Maryanne.

Maryanne, I finally got to see "Showdown at Williams Creek" and all I can say is, move over Clint Eastwood. Tom did a fantastic job with that role. I loved it. I can't remember when he made the movie but he still looks so young! But I got to watch it at my son's home where I am spending Thanksgiving. I may even make a fan of my daughter-in-law because she watched his "Frank" DVD with me and loves the music! Happy Hoildays, Maryanne and to your family as well!

I have just seen "Windrider" for the first tme and I was wowe! The scenery and the surfing, it was terrific. I loved Tom's character! He reminded me of one of my son's friends in Califronia. His name was Steve Carter but there wasn't anything he didn't try or couldn't do and he loved surfing. He had the blond hair and the eternal tan. He was a real sweet kid. We lost touch with him about 5 or 6 years ago. Last we heard he was in Colorado Springs but don't know where he is now. Tom sure had tha ole pegged! He ooks almost as good today as he did in that movie. Just ordered "Piece of Cake", can't ait o watch it!
